This Key Imports HO scale model of ATSF 2-6-2 1010 is a work in progress. So far I haven’t done anything to it. I only have a few brass steam engines since my primary modeling interest is the 1990s.
Dan’s Models Projects
My Athearn Genesis WP F7A 913 was pretty well detailed right out of the box. So far I have not added much detail. Most of my efforts have gone into lighting.
This Kato BN SD40 is one of the models featured in our HO Weathering & Detailing Volume 4 program. It was also the only model in that program that didn’t belong to me personally.
My HO scale SP GP35R 6322 is one of the first Kato models I ever owned. Way back when they were first introduced I bought two in Southern Pacific colors. This was one of those.
My HO scale Katy Airslide covered hopper was built from an old Walthers kit. These cars were good for their time, but they don’t really look as good as some more detailed modern rolling stock.
I custom painted some N scale log cars for our fictitious Tuscany & Sabine Grove railroad. Somewhere along this imaginary line there is a lumber mill or some other industry that either uses or produces logs. Naturally the T&SG needs some equipment to haul them.
A few years ago I acquired some old Tyco train set equipment. Most of it was in poor shape and wasn’t of the greatest quality to begin with. My first instinct was to get rid of all of it. But then I thought that maybe I could recycle some of the models.
My HO scale ATSF GP50 3854 is one of the few models that I’ve kitbashed twice. The model started as a stock Athearn “blue box” Santa Fe GP50 that I bought years ago.
My HO scale SP SD9E 4314 is a customized and detailed Proto 2000 model. I like to model locomotives that I have seen and photographed myself. I caught the real 4314 in South San Francisco in 1995 and took several pictures of it. I knew that eventually I’d want to build a model of it.
