The fictitious T&SG is a small but prosperous and well-maintained shortline operating somewhere in California. Even a shortline might have a business car or three. A few years ago I built three cars that can serve as either business cars or observation cars.

My model of Santa Fe SD40-2 5111 was built from an Athearn “blue box” kit. The model was extensively reworked and has DCC and sound.

Camp cars are used as housing for track crews. In the real world they aren’t used as much as they once were. One of the benefits of freelancing a railroad is that you can do things the way you want. I thought the camp cars would be interesting.

My HO scale model of SFLC 11157 was made by patching the reporting marks on an Atlas Evans Boxcar in the Evans company scheme.

My model of Amtrak’s P42DC 9 is one of the older “blue box” versions that Athearn released in the 1990s. The newer “ready-to-roll” versions aren’t all that different. I built one of those for our HO Weathering & Detailing Volume 3 program.
