All aboard! Come along for a look at passenger trains running in the western United States! Passenger Trains Galore is a 31 minute long video that features numerous shots of all sorts of different passenger trains. You will see everything from modern diesel powered passenger trains to excursion trains pulled by vintage steam. This video is not narrated and there are no captions on any of the video clips.
Passenger Trains Galore starts off with footage the ACE (Altamont Corridor Express) in northern California.
Then it’s off to Colorado to see Durango & Silverton 3-foot gauge K-28 2-8-2 473 pulling an excursion. 473 was built by the American Locomotive Works in 1923.
Back in California you’ll see Sprinter DMUs (diesel multiple unit) self-propelled passenger cars running between Oceanside and Escondido.
Passenger Trains Galore then heads to the Fillmore & Western in southern California to see F7A 100 leading an excursion.
From there we’ll go east to Nevada to see a GE 44 ton diesel pulling a short excursion on the Virginia & Truckee.
Then we’ll go back to Anaheim, California to see the Disneyland Railroad pulling passengers around the park.
In northern California you’ll see Amtrak California‘s Capitol Corridor and San Joaquin trains.
At the Orange Empire Railway Museum in southern California you’ll see vintage Pacific Electric streetcar 717.
From there we’ll follow Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751 as it leads a long passenger train through southern California!
Modern passenger trains are not left out. Passenger Trains Galore has plenty of footage of Amtrak‘s long distance trains running through California. You’ll see footage of trains along the coast, inland, and even at Los Angeles Union Station!
