Crossing Bridge No. 2 Print

Crossing Bridge No. 2

Western Maryland Scenic Railroad 2-8-0 734 is crossing Bridge No. 2 east of Frostburg, Maryland on January 11, 2015.  Daniel Cortopassi photo.

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is a 17 mile line operating in between Cumberland and Frostburg, Maryland.  The railroad’s yard and shops are across the Potomac River from Cumberland in Ridgeley, West Virginia.

No. 734 is a 2-8-0 “Consolidation” built by Baldwin in 1916.  The locomotive originally ran on the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad based in Marquette, Michigan.  Until 1956 it was used for switching and freight on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  The locomotive was moved to the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union, Illinois in 1971.

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad acquired the locomotive in 1992.  Over 90% of the parts required to rebuild 734 and restore it to operation were created in the WMSR shop.

Crossing Bridge No. 2 offers a superb rods-down fireman’s side view of this locomotive in action on a chilly winter day.

About our prints…

Our archival, art quality images like Crossing Bridge No. 2 are reproduced on acid-free paper with ink that is rated to be fade resistant for up to 200 years.

Each Crossing Bridge No. 2 print comes mounted in a 16″ x 20″ archival mat with backing board.  All TSG prints are matted to standard frame sizes for ease of framing.

We cut our own mats.  The mat colors may vary depending on what we have in stock but we always pick something that compliments the artwork.  If you place an order and would like a specific mat color, send us a note and we will try to accommodate you.  For Crossing Bridge No. 2 we usually use a double mat, often in shades of green, tan, brown and/or gray.  Sometimes we use the same color for both the inner and outer mats.  This creates a different but equally appealing look.  The print itself is about 11″ x 14″, which leaves an approximate 2.5″ border on the sides and 3″ on the top and bottom.

Prints are protected by a clear plastic archival bag that guards against moisture and minor scratches.  We recommend leaving the print inside the bag until it is transferred to a frame.

Note: The URL and copyright watermark are not part of the image.
